The West Memphis Area Alumnae Chapter (WMAAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered April 22, 2005 by twenty-four sorors who recognized the dire need to empower, encourage, and educate within their own community. Since then, the chapter has worked tirelessly to implement life enriching programs and projects.
The chapter’s outreach efforts were recognized for their "Feed the Need" Program at the 2016, 45th Southwest Regional Conference in San Antonio, TX. They were recently also recognized for Community Advancement at the 52nd National Convention. WMAAC was also recognized for excellence in Chapter Retention and Community Sustainable Programming at the 2016 Arkansas State Summit. In 2015 at the Arkansas State Summit, they received the Innovation Award and Community Focus Award. Within the local community, they are the recipient of the 2015 Community Service Award from the Xi Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Evelyn B. Hood was named SWR State of Arkansas Delta Dear of the Year for 2015.
